FLEET FEET SPORTS OPENS NEW ROCHESTER STORE
Area’s Leading Specialty Fitness Retailer Relocates to Expanded Store at Redeveloped Culver Road Armory
ROCHESTER, NY, February 1, 2014 — Gearing up and training for a 5K, marathon, triathlon or other event just got easier with the official grand opening of the new Fleet Feet Sports store at the Culver Road Armory in the city of Rochester.
Fleet Feet this morning opened an expanded 9,000 square foot store that will provide local fitness enthusiasts with more group training programs, classes, parking and selections for shoes, apparel and other gear. The new Fleet Feet Sports Store anchors Building 2 of the redeveloped Armory, located at 155 Culver Road at Interstate 490 in Rochester.
“We are overjoyed to return to our roots in the city of Rochester,’’ said Ellen Brenner-Boutillier, co-founder of Fleet Feet Sports and its sister company, YellowJacket Racing, with her husband, David J. Boutillier. “Boots and I launched this business nearly 10 years ago with a single goal: To help people achieve their fitness goals and live healthy lifestyles while supporting each other and gaining confidence. Our new Armory store will allow our customers to achieve in ways they never dreamed were possible.”
“We are thrilled to welcome Fleet Feet Sports to the city. The store, its employees and customers will bring tremendous energy and excitement to the Armory project and the surrounding neighborhoods,” said Rochester Mayor Lovely A. Warren. “Not only is Fleet Feet Sports a model small business and retailer, but their sister company, YellowJacket Racing, sponsors entertaining events that promote an active, healthy lifestyle. We look forward to helping Boots and Ellen and Fleet Feet Sports to prosper and grow in Rochester.”
Built in 1916, the Armory was redeveloped in 2012 by Whitney Baird Associates, LLC into one of Rochester’s most accessible urban shopping, dining and business centers. In addition to structural renovations and high design facade improvements, the Armory now offers a roof top terrace for outdoor dining, a digital media wall, illuminated urban trees, and direct access to a 109 acre park.
“We first reached out to Boots and Ellen nearly three years ago to discuss opportunities at the Armory,” said Fred Rainaldi Jr., Member of Whitney Baird Associates, LLC and developer of the Culver Road Armory. “With their grand opening today, we couldn’t be more excited for the integral role Fleet Feet will play in contributing to the Armory’s diverse mix of retail, office and cultural offerings.”
The Armory location is home to YellowJacket Racing, a race production company. Since 1998, YJR has produced or provided services to more than 800 events across the northeast.
